Pops & GiGi

Here are just a few of the fun memories from our 4th of July visit to Pops and GiGi in Colorado...

GiGi let Justus help drive the golf cart for the first time. Probably illegal but so cute. :)

Pops took Justus on a long walk around the neighborhood, nearly killing Bogie (their 12 year old lab), but the weather was so nice we couldn't stop walking!

Enjoying just one of the fun new toys they had waiting for him when we got there. In fact, the entire kitchen table was covered with new toys, books, clothes, and other goodies. :)

Justus LOVED being in the kiddie pool at the country club...we went every day, and he couldn't get enough of it. Trav sweared his board shorts smelled like urine afterward (and they did).

As for the actual 4th of July, he wasn't all that excited about the fireworks...the lights he liked, but the loud cracking noises freaked him out. Still so cute though.

Pops - thanks for serving in the Air Force so Justus can grow up with all the freedoms we enjoy in this country. And thanks to both the grandparents for the good times!

New Friends & Family

Justus really upped his friend count this past week. His future wife, Joslynn Nicole Heisler, was born on Wednesday, June 24. It was love at first sight.

And his new cousin, Reese Taylor Hawarah, was born on Monday, June 29. Now he has someone younger than him to boss around and blame things on. Seriously though, the world just got a lot prettier in the past few days with the addition of these two baby girls! And we can't wait to meet you, Reese! :)

Hooked on Phonics

The first thing Justus does once you put him down in his room is head straight for his bookshelf and pull down all the books he can reach (which happens to be every book on the bottom two shelves). This apparently never gets old. He does it every time without fail. His favorites right now are Bunny Kisses, Five Speckled Frogs, and Get Ready For Fun. What do they all have in common? Buttons that make noise when you push them. Genius. Annoying after awhile, but genius.

First Father's Day

As you all know, Justus has a GREAT dad! To celebrate Father's Day, he did the following: peeked in at Trav while he was showering and got himself completely soaked, then proceeded to eat breakfast in nothing but his diaper (since his pj's were sopping wet), went to church and rode around on Trav's shoulders afterwards, fell asleep on him, helped him open his present, and just enjoyed being loved by his amazing dad! Happy 1st Father's Day, Trav :)

22 Pound Shoulder Pad

One of Justus' favorite things to do is ride on Trav's shoulders. So as soon as Trav gets home from work, he puts him up there and they just walk around. Justus seriously loves it up there. I'm pretty sure he would stay up there all day if he could.

And yes, for those keen observers, that is a string of drool flying from his mouth in the second picture! What a cutie :)

Play, Crawl, Stand, Repeat

Justus has pretty much settled into a routine now that we've been living with 'Kay Kay' for a few weeks. He has his own little play station (no, it's not a PS3) set up downstairs with his favorite toys and books. He loves to pull everything out so that it's all over the floor, then crawl out into the living room and pull himself up on the couch or chair, then crawl over to the sliding glass door and stand up and peek out at the dogs, then crawl back to his toys and start all over again. He will seriously do this over and over for about an hour until he wears himself out! He seems to have endless energy...just like his dad!!

Time Flies

Sorry for the long break between posts...we have officially moved out of our house and into my mom's for the summer! It has been a little crazy getting everything in its place but we are finally feeling settled. In the meantime, Justus has learned a few new tricks: clapping, giving high-fives, and, his favorite, pulling himself up into a standing position on anything he can get a hold of. A few other notables: he ate dog food for the first time (can't take our eyes off him!), he peed on Kay Kay's carpet (woopsies! my fault...I had him naked before his bath when he got the urge), and his top two teeth are breaking through. He's growing up way too fast, in my opinion...
