Superman
Justus got these awesome p.j.'s from his GiGi and this was his first time wearing them. We showed him videos of Superman on the computer and told him the cape was to help him fly. He loved looking down at the "S" on his shirt. I slept in the next morning and when I came downstairs Trav showed me these pictures he had taken...he even put the red socks on to look like Superman's red boots! Gotta love it!

My Mother's Day
So I know this is a little late but that's just how things seem to be going these days :) I had a great Mother's Day though - which began with me sleeping in, then getting served breakfast in bed by my boys (along with a cute colored picture from Justus), then we headed off to Linlithgow Palace, since I was the "queen" for the day (or so Trav said). It was a really nice day and we had so much fun. The palace was huge (in fact, Justus learned two of his new favorite sayings while we were there... "Oh my!" and "It's huge!"). When we got home Trav cooked me dinner and I just got to relax. It was a good day :)This place was seriously big. We walked around the entire palace for a few hours and I'm sure we still didn't see the whole thing. It seemed like each room had a new set of stairs to go up or down and we never knew where we were! But there were lots of little spots that Justus loved climbing into.
I love this one of him peeking at us from behind the big doors!Walking around the fountain with dad (the palace had rooms on all four sides with a huge courtyard and fountain in the middle).
Right outside on the palace grounds. It was gorgeous. Green grass everywhere, a beautiful river, and a really cute town that surrounded it.
One of my favorite moments of the day... Trav showing Justus how to ride the spring-loaded horse thingy at the park. Apparently these are only meant for small children... and he went flying off that thing! I wish I had one more picture to show him scrambling to stay on his feet and not eat it face first into the ground!!
A few miles from the palace was this really pretty field of yellow flowers (not sure what they are - Trav thinks they are weeds but I'm not convinced - but they are blooming all over Scotland right now).
Ending the trip with a high-five from the cutest kid ever!! I love Justus so much and I LOVE being a mom! :)

Fort Buchanan
Every once in awhile Trav builds Justus a little mini-fort on our couch. All that it consists of is some golf clubs and a big blanket but Justus loves sitting under it and hanging out, eating his snack, watching t.v., playing with toys, whatever. And he loves to pull you into the fort with him (which usually ends up bringing the whole thing down!). Here he is (with his friends) admiring his dad's craftsmanship...
Not a lot of headroom but he doesn't seem to mind!!
I wasn't even downstairs when they did this...just enjoying some father-son time!
He doesn't seem to mind that this fort is semi-ghetto (no offense, Trav!)!! It just makes playing with his toys that much more fun!

Springtime in Pitscottie
I realize I have been a total slacker on the blog...woopsies! And I have lots of great pics to share so I will start to pick up the pace!! We have had some days with really nice weather lately and the first thing we (mostly Justus but us too) want to do is get outside! We have a really fun walking trail right behind our house, and it's a lot more fun now that Justus can walk it on his own. Here's how we have spent several days in the past few weeks (actually more like several evenings - it is staying light outside until 9:30pm now so we usually do these walks after dinner)...
Justus loves picking up big sticks and touching things with them, trying to throw them into the creek, or just swinging them around as he walks. Such a boy :)
Crossing the tiny bridge that leads from the field behind our house to the trail that runs alongside the creek ("burn" as they call it here). Justus always makes us stop on this bridge for several minutes so he can throw every rock or stick he can find into the little tiny trickle of water that runs underneath it.
Following dad across the field...love it.
Heading back (our house is the first one on the left) - home sweet home!
Justus learned a new 'skill' about a week ago...I was pulling weeds while he was playing in the backyard and I looked over and he was climbing the ladder to the slide all by himself (no small feat when you see the 'ladder'). Now he can go down whenever he wants and we don't have to keep lifting him up every time - a win-win!
